PSF extends its appreciation to the Western Province for the continuous collaboration and support.

The Rwanda Private Sector Federation (PSF) has commended the Western Province for its outstanding commitment and continued support in strengthening collaboration between district authorities and the private sector across the province. The recognition was expressed during a meeting held on 28 July 2026 in Rusizi District, which brought together district leaders and PSF representatives to jointly review the implementation of the cooperation agreements between district administrations and the Private Sector Federation.

According to Mr. Felix Mutagoma, from the National PSF Secretariat, the strong partnership between districts and the private sector has significantly contributed to the successful implementation of numerous initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth and improving citizens' livelihoods. Mutagoma expressed appreciation to district leaders for maintaining regular dialogue with the private sector to address business challenges and foster investment. The cooperation agreements between the districts and PSF intended to strengthening institutional coordination and collaboration, ensuring that all stakeholders remain aligned in advancing national development priorities, and jointly addressing existing challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, issues affecting citizens' welfare, and other development constraints.

Governor of the Western Province, Jean Bosco Ntibitura, emphasized that Rwanda's development depends on the contribution of every citizen through various development initiatives. He stated: "The Government of Rwanda places great emphasis on development initiatives, particularly those implemented in partnership with its various stakeholders, and especially through its collaboration with the private sector." He further noted that one of the Government's key responsibilities is to implement national development strategies and provide the infrastructure necessary to enable sustainable economic growth, including creating an environment in which the private sector can thrive. He stressed that the Government cannot achieve these objectives alone, making collaboration with development partners, particularly the private sector, essential.

The Chairperson of Public Sector Federation in the Western Province, Mr. Dieudonné Mabete Niyonsaba, reported that joint initiatives implemented by the districts and PSF over the past five years are valued at RWF 2,069,431,863. These initiatives include constructing and rehabilitating houses for vulnerable families, distributing cattle and small livestock to households, as well as providing start-up capital to support small business creation.                         Among the challenges highlighted by the PSF leadership were the low level of private sector participation in PSF membership registration and limited awareness in some sectors regarding the importance of implementing the cooperation agreements.

To address the low membership registration, participants resolved to conduct awareness campaigns in all sectors to mobilize business operators on the benefits of joining the Private Sector Federation. Discussions also focused on the continued modernization and upgrading of urban centers and commercial hubs, particularly in secondary cities of Rusizi and Rubavu.The meeting concluded with the recognition of outstanding private sector representatives and district administrations for their exemplary performance. The leadership of the Western Province was also honored for its unwavering support and strong partnership with the Private Sector Federation.
